Patients who feel overly stressed may be more prone to issues such as TMJ, mouth sores, and gum disease. Dr. Tom Trinkner is a Columbia, SC dentist that is passionate about the health and safety of his patients. Improve Your Routine at Home

While you’re social distancing or self-quarantining dedicate some of this new time at home as dental care “me time.” Take the opportunity to get more in-depth with your home hygiene. Brush regularly with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristle brush, floss, and use mouthwash frequently. Take this opportunity to try brushing after every meal, not just twice a day.

When you are bored and alone at home it can be tempting to snack on unhealthy food. Processed sugars in junk foods are one of the leading causes of tooth decay. Rather than candy or chips, try snacking on mouth-healthy celery or cheese. Avoid sodas and drink water as it washes away sugars in the mouth. Additionally, the fluoride in the water is mouth-healthy!
